I think you're right, the Doodle does show Google's creative side, and I think more companies would do well to emulate this as a way of being more connected to the people who are their customers. Unfortunately, Ancestry.com has never struck me as a company that would be interested in this sort of creative variability. They're too wedded to the strong brand they've developed to be willing to change the logo for even a day, let alone many times a year. I agree it would be a fun highlight to the specials they run, or particular event highlights. Excellent post!
