Where is Colonia Díaz & Colonia Dublán?

Mormon Colonies Map 1

Those following the entries from Worth Tucker’s diary might wonder where Colonia Díaz & Colonia Dublán are located.  Both are located in the northern part of the state of Chihuahua in Mexico.  Colonia Díaz was founded in 1885 as the first permanent Mormon settlement, but was destroyed about 1912.  Colonia Díaz was located about 200 miles southwest of El Paso, Texas near the present-day site of La Ascención. Colonia Dublán was founded in 1888 and still exists today near Casas Grandes.  Colonia Dublán is about 50 miles south of where Colonia Díaz was.

On 10 February 1903, Worth left Diaz in the afternoon and traveled for 2.5 days arriving in Dublan “about night” on 12 February.
