More Receive the Genea-Speak Award

Thursday, 10 Dec 2009 | by Mark Tucker

What an honor it is to be listed among the recipients of the Genea-Speak Award.  I feel doubly honored as I was nominated twice.  Thank you DearMYRTLE and Janet Hovorka for your kind recognition.

At this time I can track the following recipients:

Thomas McEntee

I had to literally grab a pen and paper and chart this out.

This award is given “for excellence in writing, speaking, and the promoting of good genealogical practices.” The requirement upon receiving the award is to pass it on to at least two deserving recipients.

There are so many good writers and speakers but the first names that popped into my head were footnoteMaven and Dick Eastman.

footnoteMaven

If you haven’t checked out footnoteMaven’s blog or the beautifully published Shades of the Departed magazine, then you are missing out.  FM has a great eye for design and has assembled a fine cast of characters (authors) for the magazine.  It is a 5 star publication.

Dick Eastman

Dick has been serving the genealogy community via his online newsletter, EOGN, for many years.  As the technology changes, Dick is ahead of the curve passing on his knowledge to thousands.  As a software architect, I can’t help but respect someone with a one-line bio that states he kept his first genealogy database on 80-column punch cards.
